Why not mix things up and do your Christmas shopping a little differently this year? Plan a visit to the Scenic Rim and checkout these great shopping destinations for thoughtful and unique gifts that you won’t see everywhere. Plus you get to enjoy exploring the countryside while you’re at it, all whilst supporting small businesses! Win, win, win. So, here are five great places to kick off your country Christmas shopping this year, in the Scenic Rim, an hour South-west of Brisbane!

1. Christmas Markets

It is a good idea to keep an eye out for pre-christmas markets in the area because this is a great way to find local producers and crafters all in one spot. Summerland Camel Farm host a great Christmas market with live music, food and heaps of stalls! This year it is on Saturday 4th November 2023. Other markets to check out are Boonah Country Markets in Springleigh Park every second and forth Saturday of the month and the Twilight Christmas Markets on Mount Tambourine, Friday 24th November, 2023.

2. The Shed Cafe, Rathlogan

The Shed Cafe is open every weekend, but there is also a special ladies Christmas shopping event, this Friday Nov 3rd 5-8pm! You probably wouldn’t expect to find this shop and cafe just outside little Rathdowney, but the owners have converted their country shed into a wonderful space with a great range of goods and gifts that you might not think to search for online. Look, touch and feel rather than screen, scroll and click!

3. Christmas shopping in Kalbar!

If you haven’t already seen our last #exploreketchups post all about Kalbar jump back and check it out for the full run down. But, here is the express version: Make sure you have The Emporium; Country Soul Collective, BMK Collective, Nanny Lou’s Lane and Post Masters Sweets on your list! You’ll find antiques, art, homewares, homemade, quirky, quality and treasures a plenty! You can easily spend a couple of hours having a good browse through the shops in Kalbar, and of course leaving time for a coffee at Lovett!

4. Scenic Rim Farm Box and Elderflower Farm

Just outside of Kalbar you will find The Scenic Rim Farm Box Shop and Cafe and Elderflower Farm. The Farm Box shop has great local produce and quality items, perfect for a Christmas hamper. Then just across the paddock, you’ll find the beautiful florist, Elderflower Farm in the charming rustic shed. But there is much more than flowers (although their flowers are absolutely gorgeous!), they have handmade gifts, unique homewares and other crafty goods. Better yet, you can sit down for a coffee and lunch while you are there. Oh, and did I mention they offer Farm Box deliveries too for Scenic Rim produce straight to your door! This gem could be a one stop Christmas Shop!

5. Boonah’s High Street

There is also a previous #exploreketchups post all about High Street, because there is plenty of shopping to be done in Boonah too. Plan a day trip or add these ideas to your itinerary while staying Ketchup’s Bank Glamping. We are so lucky to share this great region with great people and great businesses and it is only a short drive from Brisbane. We hope you can come and experience everything the Scenic Rim has to offer for yourself, but if time is not on your side right now, why not arrange a gift voucher to treat a loved one instead? Because time to relax is a pretty special gift.
