Lower Portals walk – Mt Barney National Park

The Lower Portals walk is one of the most popular and rewarding walks in the Scenic Rim. A 3km hike will get you to an amazing rock pool where you can swim and enjoy the amazing walls of stone that surround you. There is a secret passage way to get you there 😉 Allow the full day to spend as much time as you like.

Follow the Boonah-Rathdowney Road south for 39km. Turn right on to the Barney View-Upper Logan Road, travel a further 12km and follow the signs to the Lower Portals.

Mt French

The short, easy grade North Cliff Track leads to Logan’s lookout with excellent, panoramic views over the Fassifern Valley, with the Main Range escarpment to the West and Flinders Peak and beyond to the East.

Mount French also has one of the most popular and well-known rock climbing locations in South East Queensland. Known locally as ‘Frogs Buttress’. Abseiling and rock climbing is for experienced, suitably equipped climbers only.
