If you love a good drive to experience a new region, then here are two great day drives that allow you to experience the best of the Scenic Rim! These drive itineraries make the most of Ketchup’s Bank Glamping central Scenic Rim location however, of course, adapt them to suit you!

Drive #1: Kalbar, Moogerah and Mount Alford

This drive ticks all the boxes. Great food, beautiful landscapes and plenty of opportunities to find perfect Christmas gifts!

A: First stop, Kalbar! Grab a coffee to start the day from Lovett at Kalbar and then kick off the shopping with the magical Empire Revival which is a treasure trove of unique and precious items. Don’t forget to visit BMK. collective and Post Master’s Sweets while you are there.

B: Continue up the road to Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Cafe – It will feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but walk in the gates to find a country oasis. Sit down for a bite or keep shopping. Don’t forget to check out Elderflower Farm in the rustic barn!

C: Head 20mins south for beautiful water views at Lake Moogerah. Drop into Moogerah Cafe or meander through the lovely park lands, watching the boats and jetskis

D: Ready for lunch? Scenic Rim Brewery will fill the spot. Delicious Dutch inspired food and great craft beer! Have a chat to ‘Head Brewer’ Mike and Wendy who are always so very welcoming. Plenty of shopping here too 😉

E: Five minutes away is the magnificent Kooroomba Vineyard and Lavender Farm. Bookings essential for the restaurant, but have a wine tasting at the grand cellar door and explore the lavender fields and open air chapel with magnificent views to boot!

F: Time for one more wine tasting? Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard is small and local at its best. Dave will personally take you through his award winning wines and impart all sorts of wisdom and knowledge.

After a day well spent, head back to Ketchup’s Bank Glamping and if you’ve timed it well you might catch Green Hills Rd at magic hour as the sun starts setting. Then settle in around your private campfire and watch the skies light up as day turns to night.

Drive #2: The Scenic Circuit

A 2hr circuit (not including stops) from one side of the Scenic Rim to the other. Based on opening hours, this one is best planned for the weekend.

A. From Ketchup’s Bank Glamping head south to Rathdowney to the The Shed Cafe. Along the way there are great vantage points of Mount Maroon and Mount Barney. Grab a coffee and browse the loaded gift shop full of quality, original, local items.

B. Continue the circuit to the newly opened Oaky Creek Farm & Harvest Cafe There’s a distinct change in scenery on the eastern side with all the lush green pastures. Oaky Creek is a true paddock to plate Farmgate. Stock up on some fresh produce or try it in their delicious menu! 🥗

C. Head to the northern side of the Scenic Rim and spend a relaxed arvo session at The Overflow Estate 1895 Sit on the banks of Wyralong Lake next to the grape vines with a chacataurie board, a bottle of wine and live music. Plenty of lawn space and picnickers don’t need to book🍷

D. Head back via Boonah, and if you have time to spare, have a browse through the lovely High Street for some last minute treats 🏤

With a full belly and probably a full esky too, head back to Ketchup’s Bank Glamping to relax around the campfire or get cozy in the plush beds looking out to the stars.
